THE

Brazilian Room Wedding | Tilden Park | Berkeley: Diana + Collin

One of my favorite movies of all time: The Lord of the Rings. I think the first movie is my favorite but all 3 movies are equally good. I recently watched a documentary on the author of the books and I found out some pretty cool information about how he came up with this incredible, imaginative, and epic story.  In short, J.R.R Tolkien was a student at Oxford and also fought in World War I. As a talented writer, his took his experiences from the war and his home life, and based them off of places he created in The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings. I can go on and on about this but let’s get to what’s important shall we?

I had been looking forward to Diana and Collin’s wedding day since they told me some of their details would incorporate The Lord of the Rings. For example – she used the same calligraphy used in the movies for invitations, Sting (Frodo’s Sword) to cut the cake, Middle Earth map, and table names. I was in heaven…and wanted to secretly sit at Rivendell. But most of all, I was incredibly honored and thankful to document Diana and Collin’s wedding day. Here are a few of my favorites from their wedding day!

Starting off with a few details…

I thought the table names were perfectly executed…(plus I had to photograph Rivendell.

This is a mini version of the sword that Frodo had…Sting.

To the right is a map of Middle Earth. They had people sit at various places throughout Middle Earth.

These cupcakes from James and the Giant Cupcake were amazing.

Tilden Park in Berkeley surrounded the Brazilian room which made for the perfect scenery.

After the ceremony, it was time for their portraits…

Heading back into the reception…here’s an example of the typography that Diana hand wrote.

Diana and Collin surprised their guests with the Tango as their first dance…

Then we made our way outside for the send off…and more photos. They rolled away in style with a classic Rolls Royce…

Happy Thursday!
