DIY Wall Art | Photo Collage with Frames

Tommy and I are still fairly new to living in our house and since we had minimal wall decor moving into the house, we wanted to get a little creative with what we put on our walls…it’s still an ongoing process.

Our house is an old craftsman bungalow and has lots of neat character. One of the things that stood out to me when we saw it for the first time was the breakfast nook in the kitchen. I really liked the breakfast nook…but the walls were so WHITE. It definitely needed some flair or pizzaz with a mix of funk. I wanted to do something cool so that while you’re sitting in there, it would feel comfortable and you’d have something to look at.

My sister (hey best!) is working on making custom chevron printed cushions for the two benches but I wanted to share with you what I did to it in the meantime – a wall of framed prints! All you’ll need is this:

Simple right? You’ll also need a whole bunch of frames. A lot of these are frames I got on sale from various places. I don’t think I paid more than $5 for one frame. You can always look for good, cheap frames at Target, Marshalls, Ross, or IKEA. That’s where the majority of these came from.

Trying to place them up the wall was a little tricky. I just started from the bottom and worked my way up the wall. Sort of like a backwards tetris and it seemed to work out just fine.

The next decision was thinking about what kinds of photos I wanted to fill the frames with. I think you would be just fine with filling the frames with random photos from past trips, nights out, life in general, or family photos, but I wanted all of the photos to blend together. The framed wall collage are photos from our trip to Hawaii right before we moved into our house. Once I want to change out the photos, they’ll all be something else…hopefully from other trip!

 And voila… the breakfast nook.

Happy Wednesday!
