Guilty Pleasures

We all have them, guilty pleasures. They are the things that we shouldn’t like but like anyway.

Guilty pleasures come in all shapes and sizes. TV shows, music, food, quirky things, etc. As I sit here eating an Oreo, the best cookie ever invented, I can’t help but marvel in its deliciousness.  Oh, and add a glass of milk with an Oreo? Game over.
It may sounds a little weird, but that Oreo got me thinking of some other guilty pleasures that I have. But wait, what makes them ‘guilty’ pleasures? Who says I can’t like them? Well, no one I guess…but that’s a conversation to be had with a Philosophy major. In an attempt to put myself out there a little more, I’ve compiled a list of 4 guilty pleasures….
1. Oreos.
Double stuff Oreos. Maybe not classified as a guilty pleasure but a weakness. Just the right blend of creamy goodness and cookie. Dipped in milk and you’ve got yourself a delicious post-meal sugar fix. I bought the reduced fat Oreos a couple of months ago and that was a HUGE mistake. Shame on me for trying to get the “healthier” option of something that will never be good for you in the first place.

Here’s a photo of the delicious cookies I took in college:

2. Reality TV

Top Chef. Tommy got me hooked on that one. Team Nina for this season!

Real Housewives of Atlanta and Beverly Hills. I’m not sure why but I find those two franchises of housewives pretty entertaining…and also my favorite out of the entire series of housewives. I can’t really handle watching any more than that. I probably lose brain cells while I watch, but it is trash TV…and I love it.

I also have Judge Judy on my DVR. I don’t know what it is about her – ‘take no sh*t attitude’ but I love it. I don’t catch every single episode but when I need 20 minutes of mindless TV, she’s good for that.

Here’s an excellent website that has Top Ten Judge Judy Moments

3. Britney Spears

This is a little embarrassing. She’s been a huge guilty pleasure of mine since 1998. I don’t know what it is about her that perks my interest. My parents took my sister, her boyfriend at the time, and I to her first world tour when she had a stop in Sacramento…in 2000 I think? It was the first concert I had ever been to. Next month, I’m going to see her at her residency in VEGAS! And I’ll be waiting 3 hours in line so I can get front row. No judgements please.

4. The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Yep. All 3. I can’t just watch one without watching them all. Tommy had never seen the movies before so recently, we watched them. He would ask lots of questions during the movie and I could answer most of them…but other times I said, “just watch.” His favorite was ‘The Return of the King’

I asked a photographer group on Facebook if they wouldn’t mind sharing any of their guilty pleasures and some of the responses were pretty hilarious! See for yourself:

Jessica ForgetteCarbs. The reeeeeally bad kind that keep me from being a size 4 again.  Singing and dancing to N’Sync’s “I want you back” like it’s my job. Days of Our Lives. Facebook “research”.

Frank Carrinospoon, peanut butter, Nutella you do the math 🙂

Jenn LewisNaps, thin mints girl scout cookies, blaring my iTunes and dancing alone in my bedroom when I should be cleaning

Kristina CipollaOne Direction and Swiss Cake Rolls….

Megan LakinLaw & order svu, and French fries dipped in vanilla ice cream

Kevin GrahamTwizzlers!

Julie FoskettTaking a nap in the middle of the day. LOVE it! But I feel very guilty!

Amy Mercer: 1. The Bachelor and Bachelorette 2. Brown sugar on anything 3. Smoked cheese and chocolate…its just about as good as chocolate covered pretzels.

Alyssa MichelleDance moms, sees candies, singing the soundtrack of frozen out loud.

Alicia Betts1. New Kids on the Block (I just can’t help it. I was a screaming teen at one of their concerts & if i went to one now I’d probably scream just as loudly!)

2. Tortillas with butter (lots of it!). My grandma used to make this for me so it’s comforting now.

So….what’s your guilty pleasure?
