When I met with Eric and Sam to talk about their wedding, the first thing they told me was that it was going to be a non-traditional wedding. Their vision was to get a small group of their closest family and friends together for a fun and enjoyable night filled with good food, drinks, conversation, a small ceremony, and some dancing.
The setting they chose was the delicious Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento…
Before the small ceremony, Eric and Sam met up to see each other first…
They then made their way inside as guests gathered around…
Eric told me after the ceremony that he was sure Sam would be the one to crack during the vows but that he was the one that got emotional..
Even the minister got emotional…
A toast to Sam and Eric…
After the short ceremony, it was drinks and mingling until dinner was ready…
At one point, Sam and Eric made their way outside for a quiet moment with each other…
Once the first course was ready to come out, Eric, who is a college professor, spoke about what would be happening during dinner. Since they had such a small gathering and only 3 tables, everyone was going to be getting up and moving tables after each course. That way, Eric and Sam got the chance to sit with everyone – I liked that idea!
Eric and Sam opted for cupcakes from one of my favorites bakeries in town. Freeport Bakery.
A few people shared stories of Eric and Sam…both seeing them together and knowing them separately. Some were funny, some were witty, and some were extremely heart-felt.
Eric and Sam shared a first dance before inviting their guests to join them…
Eric and Sam, it was a pleasure being there to witness such a small intimate gathering to celebrate the love you have for one another. I wish you all the happiness in the world!
