There were a lot of firsts on our trip to Europe last month.
First time flying Virgin Atlantic.
First time at Heathrow. Check out the London Blog post and 5 things to do in London.
First time to Portugal.
First time to Lisbon.
First time using Airbnb.
First time visiting a really old castle.
Lisbon was such an amazing city and a really big highlight of our European adventure. One of the most colorful cities I’ve ever seen…if not the most. There is so much history in Lisbon it’s almost overwhelming. The buildings, the architecture, the castle, the streets, the monuments…all of it is so beautiful.
Take these tiles for example…
You’ll find these tiles on the facade of a lot buildings in Lisbon. A lot of the tiles were different too. This is just a small handful of the tiles that I thought were beautiful.
Below is the view from our very first airbnb experience. We were pretty centrally located. In the distance is the river and we were just down the way from Avenue de Liberdad.
My Portuguese great grandma, Granny as we called her, used to make a pastry called sweet bread and it was so delicious. Portuguese do the best pastries I’ve ever seen.
This was our walking view. If you go, be prepared to walk. A lot. Notice the sidewalk…so much detail!
Pretty sure I found a treehouse I want.
I’ll just leave this one here…
Adventuring.
This was probably a favorite neighborhood of mine, Bairro Alto. It’s a festive neighborhood with fantastic restaurants and bars.
The bridge in the background may look familiar to you Californians. It was made by an american bridge company who also constructed the Bay Bridge.
This Portuguese cat had the right idea…
In addition to tiles, the doors of Lisbon was another attraction of mine.
Thanks for reading!
