THE

My Orange and Black Halloween

Life of Ryan

This was probably the first halloween in a loooooooong time that I wasn’t in the spirit to dress up in costume. I did, however, celebrate the day in Orange and Black…but for different reasons.

My mom is an amazing woman (I love you too dad!) and I grew up in a San Francisco Giants/San Francisco 49ers house. So from a young age I’ve been a fan of those teams too. My Papa (grandpa) used to take my Mom to San Francisco giants games before I was even thought of so she’s been a lifelong fan and knows not only the history, but plenty of facts about the Giants. In 2012, game 5 of the world series when Buster Posey hit a grand slam I called my mom and said DID YOU SEE THAT?! She was at work keeping tabs on the game from her computer which had a bit of a delay and she didn’t know about the grand slam yet…so I broke the news to her. She was ecstatic!

Fast forward to 2014 after of the most nerve wrecking post season Giants games – Game 7 of the world series. After they won the world series in Kansas City, I knew there was going to be a parade and celebration once the Giants returned home. Since myself, or my mom didn’t attend the parades in 2010 or 2012, this felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity….so we took it! Tommy and I got up at 5 am, picked up my mom, and headed to SF to celebrate the Giants’ third world series win in 5 years. My mom was right, there was a ton of people who were already there early so we found a spot with a good view of the parade and stood for 2 1/2 hours before it began. And you know what? It was all worth it. I’m a fan, but my mom is a huge fan and it made me so happy to be alongside her while we watched and had so much fun at the parade.

So with our umbrellas in hand we braved the crowds and had a great black and orange halloween/Giants celebration. Here are some iPhone snaps from the day…

I hope everyone had a great Halloween!
